Dr Suess does Hierarchy

At the heart of All issues,
From kings wrapped in tissues,
To folk flat underfoot,
There’s one thing at the root.

From those who sit on high,
Piled on money, to the sky,
To those in the mud,
Smeared, ragged in blood.

Hierarchy is the pyramid,
But there’s truth that’s hid,
The pole we’re told to climb,
Is daubed with elite slime.

Society is greased.
If your striving never ceased,
They’d still pull up the ladder,
And kick you in the bladder.

From the day we’re born,
Were stratified and torn,
Never allowed a semi chance,
Or spared a second glance.

We’re told its meritocracy,
But I make you a prophecy,
However hard you strive,
Straining to feel alive,

You’ll never reach the top,
Inevitably you drop.
The game’s rigged from the start,
But still, we play our part.

You see the powerful and rich
they’ve no shame to itch,
They keep us in our place
Sneering in our face.

Until one shining hour,
We realise our power.
We aren’t a huddled mass,
Together we kick ass.

Cast down mere competition!
Allow our flourishing fruition.
Cooperation is the key!
To a world where we are free.

So don’t believe their lies,
As they gobble all the pies,
Ignore their airs and graces,
Custard in their faces!
